I was teasing them mate... Kev (Specialised Joinery Products) also threw in a nice Jap saw with a 0.6mm kerf. So i got some thing hi-tech and balanced it with something low-tech..Very Zen of me I thought.
While I've got you, I watched the cyclone video again last night and a couple of questions occurred to me. Is the size of the bottom collector critical (as long as I could buy or make a funnel to fit the diameter)? and; could I connect it up to my Arlec, powered shop-vac?If you never made a mistake, you never made anything!

The foot stool is good practise, and useful.
Myself, I have more ideas than time . But I bet I'm not alone there.

The size of the bottom collector should not matter provided it is sealed properly. However, I am not the cyclone guru, that would be Sturdee or Gumby.
I have an Arlec 2110 and would have no problem using it with Sturdees cyclone (I used to run my WS2000 with a 1950s vac ) .

I've been asked a few times about the size of the bottom container.
I've used the 15 lt and 20 lt empty paint drums because they are free, readily available and have a good tight sealing system and still keeps it to a reasonable size so easily moved around in the workshop.
However the size is immaterial and larger size containers can be used provided the are tightly sealed.
I have 3 in use and each is powered with a cheap (free from hard rubbish collection ) domestic vacuum so no doubt the Arlec would be okay.
Peter.
