I've only done the one box so far, but I drew a curvey line freehand on the piece, and then let the bandsaw go where it wanted!

If you are worried about it being same on both sides you could cut out a templete from a piece of cardboard, trace it on one side then flip it over and trace on the other. However; what I like about these boxes is that it becomes whatever you want it to be. One thing you can try if you are having trouble doing free form, use what you have around the house, plastic lids, a compass, the mouse on you computer, whatever you think might look good. Nothing is out of bounds, have fun and let the creative juices flow. I am sure once you get started you will have to start writing them down becuase there will be so many.
    See ya'll later!!!!

Make sure that any internal curves are not smaller than the tighest curve that you can cut with the blade/bandsaw that you are using - check this out on a piece of scrap wood first.
