Liquid Metal Inlay (to fill knot)
Hello,
I have a piece of wood that has several knot holes in it. I would like to fill it in with some sort of a liquid metal that can be sanded down so that it just looks like a streak in the metal. Preferrable of a gold color (brass etc.)... I have seen this effect before in curring boards... Any suggestions of the name of what this would be called and also the actuall product name I would need for this???
Thanks,
J

Hi,
You could try either cold metal casting, or mixing metallic filling powders with a casting resin - there are casting resins on the market that will polish to a glass consistency with the metal fillers, along with other applications for a patina or oxidised effect.

Felixe.

I have a friend in the states who inlays his work with brass powder, then drizzles in ultra thin super-glue over the powder. This seems to come up a treat after sanding and finishing.....
Cheers...
