Abrasive cut off blade
Hi,
I need to cut some metal tube (hollow) and was wondering if you can fit an abrasive cut-off blade onto a standard circular saw - mine is a 235mm. I know rotary hacksaw blades are available, but they are quite expensive (although I'll probably get one one day)
The blades I hand in mind are similar to these:

Thanks,

You would need to check the saw rpm to ensure that you did not exceed the maximum safe speed of the blade. Obviously the arbour size etc must match.
You would need to check the blade housing of the saw to make sure it can cope with the flying sparks (ie no plastic guards) and the blade shards should the blade shatter - rare but not impossible.
You need to be aware that the saw will take a hammering from using it this way, the cutting action is more violent than sawing timber.
Finally you need to be aware that the saw is likely to kick back at you if the blade jams in the work (which it will at some stage) and ensure that if it does kick back that you are not in the way of the blade.
Personally if I'm cutting tubing and can't use my abrasive chop saw or power hacksaw I use a cutting blade in an angle grinder set up to pull away from me if it jams.

What he said. And in any case, expect the blade to shatter every time you use it, including in the RA grinder. BTDT.
