Yes, I know the poor old AL-50GA from the rabbits is the bottom end of the range, but I have had it for many years. Within its limitations, it works fine.

Now I want to remove a small amount of backlash from the compound slide. The manual says to remove the two screws holding the spindle bracket and to remove the spindle. Then 'adjust the screw ring'. The accompanying diagram is totally obscure.

I have removed the spindle bracket, slid the top part of the slide out of the way, and peered into the internals. Um ... WHAT screw ring?

I can see a very small protrusion around the threaded shaft, but how to adjust that is a bit of a mystery to me! It is very narrow and it has one slot at the side which is almost useless without some very custom tool (not supplied), and it does not seem to want to 'adjust' anyhow.

Help. Has anyone managed to do this?

Cheers
