I'm making a combined work bench with drawers for my bigger machine accessories. The table top is 1200x1200mm. I plan to have one half of the area underneath occupied by drawers and the other half will be a shelf at the bottom with space to put my legs if I'm sitting at the table. So the drawers will be around 1100mm wide and 600mm front-to-back. The drawer height will be circa 300mm (to be determined when I measure up my accessories etc). I will use the heavy duty drawer slides that take circa 250kg/pair. Each drawer will need to be able to hold around 150kg, my rotary table alone weighs 60kg.

I plan to make the drawers as a welded open top box of steel sheet.... the question is how thick should it be? I was thinking 4mm?
