AL-960 fitting a quick change tool post?
I recently purchased a second hand AL-960 with DRO and want to fit a QA-140 (AXA? 259-200) tool post from F&H. I was told that I would have to bore out the base of the tool post to fit the stud, I wasn't told the stud would be about 25mm short!!
So I figured I'd machine a new stud, so I can use the original tool post as required.
I can't get the stud out.
From a post I found in the archives, it seems there may be a grub screw locking the stud from below. Unfortunately none of the pictures have survived.
My compound slide is a solid piece with no T slot and ,unlike my previous lathe where you wind the compound back until it comes off the lead screw, I can't figure out how to remove it. It winds only so far then stops.
Could someone let me know how to go about removing the compound and perhaps confirm how to get the tool post stud out?
Thanks in advance...
