I have one of these ball bearing collet nuts. To be honest I can't say I have noticed any difference clamping wise over a standard ER40 nut. Maybe there are benefits if you have tool pull out. If not one has to ask what problem they are trying to solve in the first instance.

I also own the ER40 hex and square collet blocks. I have found them useful and much less of a PITA than stuffing around with a dividing head for rough work. And the fact they hold round in the vise. Certainly worth the purchase.

I bought both the collet blocks and a ball bearing collet holder... Still trying to work out the advantages of the ball bearing collet holder..

The collet blocks are really nicely made, you will be happy with them..

Thanks for your input. I will hold off on the collet nuts then. I seem to have compiled quite a list. I am about to add it all up. I am sure I will be happy with them.

I too have the same collet blocks.
I also bought the bearing collet nuts, Now I already had 3 or 4 Sandvik bearing collet nuts before I ordered these ones. And I can say this much.

1. The quality is pretty well on par with the sandvik equivalent

2. The price is 1/10th the Sandvik equivalent

3. I have found that I don't need to over tighten the collet nut like I had to on standard nuts.

4. They don't marr the top of the collet like the standard nut.

Well that's it so far........

My take is that they will provide a small improvement without getting too far out on the bleeding edge of costs. They do feel nice to tighten.

The above blog is about CNC related stuff. He has a lot of hobbyists using his software and looking at his blog so don't let the "CNC" bit put anyone off. Lots of good information there.
