A Brief History of RT/Pancake Dies (one-piece blanking dies)
Hi !
I just posted this in the Jewelry forum area (where it might be seen by 3-5 people eventually )
but since there was some pancake die action in this GENERAL area last time I was here (AUS is
a long way from the desert of SW USA ! ) , I thought I'd put it here, too.
So, 'copy/paste ' of the first post :
Howdy folks,What Is A Real Pancake/RT Die?... What A Real Pancake Die IS! - Dar Shelton
Here's a little something I wrote about my work . Previously to this work, my background/experience was
in jewelry making and manufacture , and it's where I was first exposed to the old 'RT Blanking System' that
became my obsession, and new career , back in 1987.
Kind of long, and self-promotional, but in the context of being informative about the process, and options available
to people who don't want to make their own tools.
ps : nods to Peter Rowe for providing the link to the link to the original RT (Roget Taylor) paper,
whenever I was on this forum a year or so ago talking about this .
Dogboy Dar
pps : other (obvious, in the title) nod to Stephen Hawking
(though I'm more of a Bohm man, even though I understand
even less of his work)
