Default Dainichi universal machine (previous thread under "Mitsubishi" )

Progress with tidy up of machine. Did not really need "restoration" per se as was in fine working order with no rust despite 30 years on board bulk ore carrier.

Here is the original thread: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/mi...-lathe-152266/
I can't see any pics there to compare with, but it sure looks pretty now. How's it go?

    Default How it goes

    Bryan

runs quietly for big gearbox. Top speeds fairly slow - 640 on lathe spindle, 500 on drill press and 128 on horizontal mill. Is like an overgrown small lathe. Threaded spindle (rather than camlock), no clutch on lathe, no quick change gear box and mill table only auto feed when shaper running. But is massively and accurately built - everything seems twice as big/heavy as it needs to be. Feels very solid when operating.

Nice work David, and a unique machine, good to see it being looked after.

Sounds like it needs some different pulleys.
