In John Baron's elephant foot thread I suggested that while John was set up to make some fiddly things he should probably use the opportunity to make some more. I also made the comment that I had made an adaptor for my indicators and Chris "Jack620" reckoned he needed some photos. So rather than intrude in John's thread here are those photos.

I had made an elephant's foot at the prompting of Peter Fou when I was struggling with the alignment of tailstock. I used some 316 and cut the M2.5 thread with a die.

Had I possessed a 4-48 UNF tap at the time I could have made an adaptor enabling the use of an assortment of like threaded points on my various metric threaded indicators. I acquired some taps last year and made the necessary adaptor. The extensions are stainless and have proved handy.

Bob.

PS - I doubt that Cary would approve of such an unwieldy extension!
