    Default Diametral Pitches & module pitches

    On a lathe besides metric & imperial thread chart it has additional diametral & module pitches what are these used on?

    Hi Andy,
    They are for turning dp and module worms and gear hobs. Module is metric, module 1 has 1mm of pitch diameter per tooth, module 1.5 has 1.5mm per tooth etc. Dp is imperial, and is the number of teeth per inch of pitch diameter, ie a 10 dp gear 2" pcd will have 20 teeth.

    I get it now, I knew mod and dp were for gears but didn't think about worm drives
