Default download a popular science article from google books - this works

    Hey,

I had a play with firefox and this works ................. seems useful ................ couldn't find a decent way to do this by searching with google ..... there are probably better ways ........ but this does work if you only want a few pages.

    1. Get your required popular science page on your firefox browser ie

    http://books.google.com.au/books?id=...acksaw&f=false

    2. Right click in middle of page, select "View Page Info" from menu choices

    3. Click on 2nd icon at top called "Media"

    4. Scroll down through the media files with your down arrow - the file contents are previewed in the bottom half of the screen

    5. The pages you want are stored as a series of jpegs, scroll down until you see the preview of the page you are interested in then click save as at middle of right margin of screen - make sure you save it as a jpeg - default is htm - easy enough to rename afterwards if you accept the default.

    6. save the relevant pages to your computer as jpeg files

    7. Now you can import these images into a word document or excel spreadsheet or graphics package and do what you like with it.

It would be too tedious to do the whole magazine like that, (google will find you some freeware packages that will do the whole magazine) but for just a few pages this works well.

Is there an easier way to do this ? and FYI there are a couple of different versions of the powered hacksaw in this archive.

I normally just use the Windows Snipping tool to grab a copy of a page from Google books.
