Engineering Felt
Hello,
Where can I buy some engineering felt. I need it for a slideway wiper on a shaper.
I can purchase from the Eastern States, but I'm from Western Australia.

I bought some felt from Clark Rubber which I used for wipers...It was sticky on one side but that did not matter..

You could also get it at a craft shop or if you have a spotlight shop over there they would have it.
What type of shaper do you have? I picked up a 11inch Douglas shaper about 2 months ago in exellent condition with all most another shaper as spares for $450. I intend to fit wipers on it as well as they don't come with any standard.

Another suggestion - try upholsterers or trimmers. Found mine at a trimmer shop that specialises on doing the upholstery of vintage cars.

It is a klopp shaper 425mm stroke, German made (1950 year). Yea at some stage this machine had full rescrape of the slideways. They had made up steel slideway wiper covers (on the ram) that have a hard felt in them.
Yes I've been to clark rubber the store here doesn't have any. Have been to spot before also and they weren't much help but may go back there again.

The sort of felt you want can be purchased in various thicknesses and densities from any saddler.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.
