Default ER collet simple dividing chuck

I have no idea what to call this handy tool, but it has twelve flat sides for indexing in a vice and it takes ER40 collets...

So to index 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12 you simply put it in the vice and move it around as required... My dividing head weighs about 60kg so it a pain to lift onto the mill for simple indexing jobs...This should help a lot..

    Nice work RC,
Did you make that while you had the lathe set up for the collet chuck?
I have been wanting to make one of them since I saw Chich2's (thats not you is it?) one on CNC zone a few years ago.
Here are a few shots of his one.

    RC.
I made this two up a couple of years ago for a set of ER32 collets. Your twelve sided one looks like it would be handy. With the smaller flats do you find any problems with griping it.

    RC,
Just a thought , would it make it even more usefully if there was a through hole in it for doing repetitious work? That way you could feed it in from the back as you were milling and cutting off the parts, or for longer rods that need to be machined.
I will have to make one of these myself. The 10inch rotary table is too much trouble for a one off small part.
    Keep up the good work

Hi Dave, No I am not chic2 on the cnczone forum, over there I am still RC although I think I have only got one post to my name on that forum.

Hi Bob, I have not tried this one out yet, I only just finished it early this morning and only had time to post it here before I headed off to work...

I may have trouble holding it in the vice, but I can always tighten the vice a bit more
