    HI,
I tend to agree Pete, I have looked at their Website quite a few Times and their Prices have certainly gone up. Just an Example their Coolant Pumps used to be Cheaper than everyone else, but now they are about the same. I have only ever dealt with them once. I bought a Casing Anvil for a Mate, I see they have bigger ones now. I might Deal with them again soon though as I could do with a Granite Surface Plate for My Home Workshop.

I just bought a DRO and vise from Wholesale Tools in Detroit. Those things are coming to me via USA Address & Mail Forwarding. Their prices are the best I have found on the two items I wanted (Fagor DRO, Spanish made, and a Heinrich Vise, USA made). (The DRO is 1/2 the local cost, the vise is not sold here)

Ordering isn't easy, but the service is great. Payment is by wire transfer only for non-North American customers, but they do offer a 5% new customer discount. Ask for it by the coupon name "Newcus".

    Default DRO scales

A US based forum member gave me this link. The company, ZS Systems, supplies apparently high quality scales for non-Chinese DRO's (except Heidenhain) at great prices. I'll report back if the scale I bought is anything other than perfect.

Have bought a few things from Enco in the USA.

Not the easiest of website to navigate but they have a wide range of stuff including a range of quality.

A few years ago I went into a group buy (19kg) of Tool Steel and even with the AUD at USD0.6 it was worth it.

Favourite supplier is probably Mongkok in Hong Kong. Just walked back in from there, but didn't buy much anyone would be interested in. However I did buy a Presto drill bit set 6-10 x 0.1 mm rises to compliment the 1-5mm set I already have. These are worth a motza at home, but $92 here! I keep these bits for the few times it really matters. Beautiful bits BTW, but if anyone comes through HKG beware of the copies, you'll be able to easily recognize them as not genuine. But the real deal is the sort of thing you can easily slip into a suitcase, and the reminder of the trip will be there every time you use them ... beats the heck out a snow dome anyway!!!!

    Default Where?

"Favourite supplier is probably Mongkok in Hong Kong"

Pete, given that Mong Kok is a suburb of Kowloon, care to narrow it down a touch?

Mongkok is largely made up of store after store next to each other, each selling different types of tools or materials. Imagine a hardware store the size of several blocks, crammed full of specialised tools and supplies and you get the idea. It's basically centred on Reclamation St, but spills out into the surrounding area with decreasing density as you get further away from "ground zero" It's VERY easy to spend many hours there, indeed as I recall the day I posted that message I was there 4 hours, and was just going through a shopping list! For those who haven't been there, don't believe Asia is full of cheap crap such as what is sold here from China. Most of the products sold in Mong Kok aren't the cheap/nasty stuff you see here, of course there's some, and that's fine. But much sold there is very top quality German and other European tooling, just be a little careful as there's also some fakes there too; look closely before buying. One store even has a BRAND NEW Hercus 260 metric lathe sitting there, still waiting to be sold after all these years! Expect to pay about 1/4 what a specialist retailer here would ask for the same good quality brand. Toolies heaven :P
