    Default tools for cheap

I'd just like to give a to Jeff from tools for cheap. Fast email responses and good service. I bought a set of arbor spacers from him, and got a few bxa holders to fill the box.
After payment I received an automatic order received email, and I hadn't heard anything since. I was going to email him again tonight if I had not heard anything. Low and behold I came home earlier to find a flat rate box on my doorstep.

There was some discussion about the price of the toolholders from Jeff compared to cdco, but I have to say they are worth it, the quality is much better, and the standard #1 holders are longer aswell.

    Cheers,
    Ew

Edit, Added pics, the holder with the boring bar in it is the CDCO.

I just received a parcel from RDG Tools in the UK. The order was finalised thursday and it's at my door on monday. Across the planet in TWO working days!

PS: I'm not in a major city either.

Have come to the conclusion buying from CTC tools website is not worth it any more if you can get it elsewhere which seems to in most cases be cheaper...

Having a fixed postage cost for each item just kills any deal with them... Often cheaper to get it off ebay as single items...

Well they not more expensive on everything, but it pays to have a bit of a search first... I will still get stuff from them, but am increasingly getting stuff from other chinese vendors as well..

Looks like any other huanyang. $26 more than bringing it in yourself but you'd save a couple of weeks and it has the speed pot already, so that will save you a couple of $ and the time fitting it if you're going to make use of it.

Thanks Stuart. I was just wondering how the price compared with Ebay for those functions.

I couldn't remember what members paid for theirs recently.

Looked reasonable, which I guess it is.

Yeah I thought so also. When you consider $15.36 of that is GST.
If only others prices were so close.

I bought one of those huanyang units last week, a 1.5kW unit.
It was delivered here on Monday but have had a bad dose of the flu so can try it out just yet.
I comes with an A4 pages with a warning on it that it has to be installed by a qualified electrician.

Well I went and ordered a heap of stuff from CTC tools...

I thought their postage rates had dropped a bit.... Ordered late Friday night.... Arrived today through Toll..

They have always sent via post before and it has always taken 2-3 weeks... This one took 7 days including a weekend..

Quite impressed.... Also quality as always is good..

I bought some cheap $13 150mm digital calipers from a Sydney seller a few weeks back.. As I needed a set in a hurry.... They are adequate, but bloody hell they are rough... Sounds like they are full of sand when you use them... I bought a set from CTC and they are brand name and serial numbered and only were a few dollars more expensive..

    Default Good Ebay Service

5 Weeks ago I bought a german made 0.0001 dial gauge on ebay from seller jbates54.

German Made Imperial Dial Gauge Jewelled 0 1000 Inch BY 0 0001 IN | eBay

For $12.10 plus $8.00 post I was pretty happy. The unit was promptly sent and very well packaged. On arival the unit looked pretty good. Everything worked smoothly and looked to be well made. Any way I did not use it until the weekend when I went to use it to set up a job in the 4 jaw chuck. When I was getting the piece centred to the last 6 tenth's of a thou I noticed that the needle would not repeat to the same position on each rotation of the shaft and would jump from one rotation to another.

As I had not yet left feedback, I thought I would let the seller know what I had found before leaving any negative feedback. So I sent him a message explaining what I had found (i did not request a refund) and he very promptly responded apologising for the "dud" and refunded the purchase price plus half the postage, and said I can keep the dial gauge.

I was very happy with his response given the extended time since I purchased the item. I will now pull the back of the dial gauge to see if it is something simple I can fix. If it is I will let him know and repurchase the item

    Cheers

    Piers

    Default Gasweld name change

I see Gasweld on South Road at St Marys in Adelaide is now Adelaide Tools Ltd.

How do I know this ?

I went there today and noticed all new people. The guy tells me it's the same company with a new name.

Go outside and look up to see a huge sign plastered across the shop saying "Adelaide Tools" - have to agree he's right

They didn't have what I wanted anyway.

The worst that can happen is you will fail.
    But at least you tried.
