Thumbs up Hand Sabre Saw blades ?

    Hi All,
I came across a small steel frame saw very similar to a "Junior Hacksaw" only it is higher in the centre - more towards the shape of a fret saw.
The blade is missing but it is fitted to the frame (6mm round bar) in the same way that a blade is fitted to a junior hacksaw with pins at both ends.
It would appear that the blade would be about 165 -170 mm long (Longer than a junior blade)
A mate said he believed it was an engineers "Sabre Saw" used for fine metal cutting and scroll work.

Can anyone identify this thing and tell me where I can get some blades for it.

First post on this forum, Great site.

    Thanks
    Wayne

    Angry Sabre Saw Blades

    Hi All,
Further to my last thread, I've since found out that is a "Piercing" saw!
Spear and Jackson list the complete tool and blades (slightly differant frame to mine) but here's the catch, They sell a few different pitch blades but you need to buy a 100 blade pack at a price of $75.00!!! - according to All Tools in Perth.
I think I'll put it away for now!
    Thanks

Not so fast, Wayne. Dunno about Oz sizes, but USA "coping saw" blades are about 160mm pin-to-pin centrelines. (Scroll saw blades shorter) You need to flex the frame to put tension in the blade, so your frame size could be about right.
