    Default Honden lathe

    Hello to you all.
First I will say that I come from Denmark, and my spelling might not be too good, and I could easely use some wrong words, so please forgive me.
The matter is, I have bought a used metal lathe with no manufactorsign on it, only the year 1979.
I was told it was a Honden, and that might be the case.
So I searced the net for Honden and ended op here.
I would like to know if someone can identify it, maybe someone even has a manuel for it.
As I am not too experienced in this forum, perhaps you would take the time to look it up on my site.

    Best regards Erik

Default I might be able to help

    Erik

First G'day & welcome to this forum.

My lathe is branded a "McMillan" but the book is "Honden".
My lathe is about 1981. It looks a lot like yours.
I can scan it for you if you want. It will take me a few days.

It is not a bad lathe for the size. Accuracy is ok.

Hope this helps, I will try and scan book in the next few days.

    regards

That is very nice of you thank you.
I find it to be a nice little lathe, which should cover my needs, have just sold my sr 80 , a danish made lathe, much smaller than this, but with extreem acuracy.

Looked up your website, nice pictures of the lathe & other equipment.

Proves one thing though, your English is definitely better than my Danish

I thought you were tought Danish at school, after all we are tought English and it's been only 48 years , since I left school.
Thanks for your nice words. Earlier my site was in English too, because of my interest in British Seagulls, My PC broke down, and you know about lack of backup, so I did not establish it in your language after that..

    Erik,

When you say Seagulls do you mean the old outboard motors?

HI Zuffen. I sure do. And I have 2 still, but I have had many more of them, and paticipated in an English forum on this subject. So I restored a type 102 and took pics of it, put it on my site, and got a lot of questions about the proces, and a suggestion to add English text, so they could get the meening of it. And so I did.
The pics are still on my site ( most of them anyway )

Looks like any number of the 80's manufacture belt drive lathes out of Taiwan.

The Lantaine is pretty similar to yours. So the manual will be pretty close.

    Hux.
Thank you very much . The lathe shown is exactly like mine, except for the way the motor is mounted. And it looks like it's possile to make mm. threads after all, when the " manual " is at hand.

    Default Hondan lathe book

    Erik

As already said the books at the link above show a lathe very similar to the Honden. I don't have the exploded parts list though. Do you still want a copy of my book or is the one from the link above ok?

    regards

The only things I could wish for, are more picturelike charts to copy, get laminated and put on the machine.

    Hello again.
I have examind the lathe and the charts . I have the 2 pcs. 40 wheels, but not the 32 and the 30 for mm. threads. This gives the opportunity to make a good deal of threads, and I can't imagine anyone having spares of the missing 2 ones. So it has to do.
