Sorry for the delay in posting photos but as said battery needed to be recharged........yes I know pull chip out stick in card reader but with temps reaching 40C and this room being one of the hottest i went and sat in the aricon part of the house.


So here are just a few of the items on show.

Pics 6 and 7 (same engine) look awfully like an early Monosoupape Gnome rotary to me, as it says on the placard.

The description of the ignition system given in the above web page is incorrect - in fact the HT current reaches the spark plugs via the uninsulated brass wires which can be seen in the photo. The ignition system is "interesting" - the magneto armature makes 9 revolutions for each 4 revolutions of the engine.

Hi,
If the whole engine rotated I suppose it was called a rotary but to my way of thinking if it had pistons and a crank shaft I think radial.

Bill H&F sale across the board was on but now over till March.
This display was at the Sydney/Parramatta branch as always.

Strike that last statement Bill got some time to edit and load it. Its not much just 3 short videos of a couple running and more photos.

Stu will see what I can find out from one of the members. In speaking to the owner who's in his 80's he and his brother he did most machining he is in a wheelchair built it. It had been run but not commissioned at H&F sale weekend but was due to be.

Hi Stuart,
If you google Shay locomotive you should be right. Well it looks like a Shay, they had a couple at the Powelltown sawmill in Victoria.
The only other geared locos I know of are the Climax like at Puffing Billy.

Thank you gentlemen, found what I was after.

I figured the "square part" was a sliding joint but its not as clear on the model as in this picture.
Maybe the model doesn't handle right handers to well
