I installed a compactus in my shed a few years ago and to make use of the space above it, I built a mezzanine floor. I've been using a ladder to go up and down from the mezzanine; as you can imagine this gets old pretty quickly and what I can carry up and down a ladder is obviously limited. Stairs would obviously be better but the footprint of a decent flight of stairs is too big. I'd like to build a lift ('elevator' if you live in the USA) and am keen to get some ideas; re-inventing the wheel every time I have a project is too time consuming. This one on the Tube looks reasonable, with unistrut uprights and one of those Chicom winches:

but a little more heavy-duty would suit me better.
Any ideas or experience?
