Default What to use for an internal thread in tube

    Hi All,

We have a king size brass (Not real brass) bed frame that I have to cut down to fit a double bed size- in width.

The bed is made from round tube with an internal diameter of 14.4 mm.

I need to get some kind of insert that will fit into the tube, with about a 6mm thread that I can put a screw into to hold the frame together....

I hope this makes sense ?

    Regards

    Greg

    G/day Strungout,

If you can't or don't want to weld a nut in the tube then you might get away with using a suitably sized loxin or dyna bolt from bunnings or some other hardware.

    Ramset Australia

You might want a spacer or some washers that fit inside the tube to keep the bolt centralized at the end of the tube.

I don't know if they will stay tight in there tho ?

It all depends on how much action the bed gets
