Intro- hello...
Hello Everyone,
I joined bout a week ago, but haven't had time to post til today, I'm 33 on east coast US. I work for an antique restoration company, an have somehow found myself in the field of metal finishing.
I have a long back round in heavy equipment operating, and did it for almost ten years. But, due to personal circumstances I had to take work that kept me close to home. Almost all equipment companies want you to travel , and I can't.
I was just another regular employee until I saw a couple guys trying to sand a 1/4"x3ftx5ft piece of steel w/ an electric orbital sander.(attempting to remove the mill scale.) I remembered from somewhere that muriatic acid can remove scale, and I mentioned it to my boss. That was 7 months ago, and now I basically work finishing metal all day, everyday. I'm really starting to enjoy it, but it's hard when no one really has any knowledge about it. So i'm left either troubleshooting on the fly, or using the net.
So i thought it would be a good idea to join a community like this, and hopefully get more educated.
I'll post soon w/ some pics of some of the projects I do, and what i'm working on, and with.
thanks

Plus one from me as well always some thing to learn here different methods different opinions but collectively the end result is achieved.
When I was a kid I asked a lot of questions. Some time later would find a book on the subject sitting at my place at the dining table. Never ever got sick of asking questions or reading books.Must admit with internet access my physical book reading has down sized.
This a great forum and I enjoy opening it every day.
We all look foward to your input.Welcome.Last edited by j.ashburn; 4th August 2013 at 10:46 AM. Reason: more to add
