Hi there. Thanks for your post.

There has been discussion on this forum at various times about Maker's Marks, eg small metal "tags" that can be attached to our work for sale. Do a search on "makers marks" and you will see what I mean. You could for instance offer a service for a range of small medalions with a number of lines of laser engraved customer provided text. I would certainly be interested. You would have to offer reasonble pricing for low quantities but I would think you might have a ready market with members of this forum. One member for instance imports his "marks" from the UK. Local availability would be great.

Any other members interested if the price was right.

Hi Ken, we would be able to do the customized tag. you can provide the artwork/details via corel. We can do low wolume no problems. In the past we have marked directly onto the workpiece, ie logo on the back of chairs etc.

we provide a service solutions making the impossible possible.

Contact me on and we can discuss your specific needs.

Tim, I think a lot of us would like to have an etched brass name plate probably about 50mm x 25 mm with a makers name and perhaps a number on it. Would you be able to provide a ROM cost based on that for, say, a qty of 100?

Would it be cheaper and simpler if the forum were to decide on a standard gauge and size?

I'd be interested if this were to progress.

I took two of mine to the BBQ at Scooters, quantities of 20 from the UK cost about $4.50 per unit for the 25mm (1") including postage.
Interested to see what the local price is but have had some rude shocks in the past with set up fees, minimum order fees etc.

Hi All, I will look into this with our production mgr. I feel that we can do some thing very cost effective. If we can limit down to a general size plate, say 25 by 50mm oval shape type plate, and/or rectangular, we could mass produce blanks out. then its just a matter of etching your personalised info on the standard plates. Any suggestions???? and also a general opinion on the type of metal plates interested would be helpfull, eg. brass, stainless......

    cheers Tim

For myself, an oval, around the 25 x 50mm shape you mention, in brass, would be just fine for me. Something with an engraving somewhat like this would be good; perhaps also with a 'phone # underneath.

25mm x 50mm oval in brass is what I would consider; or something along those lines. I would like to have this

etched in if it was do-able, but with a phone number instead of the date.

    Cheers.

Bear in mind that with a round plate a recess with a forstner bit is easy, unless you have an oval forstner:confused:

If you embed them round is better, yes. However, if you drill two small holes in them and brad them to the work, you don't need to worry about glue or mucking about with forstners or routers. Plus they can be added to anywhere at any stage of the process.
