Bryan, The lever lowers the idler pulleys between motor and gearbox to change either of the two belts.
UEE, I would be very interested in seeing if it is in the old catalogue, and equally interested in trying to get hold of the parts breakdown.
TOOLMAN, Yes, the 4 jaw chuck is bl00*y heavy - it measures 200mm diameter and is almost 100 deep. The manual I received is generic in that it covers two sizes, namely 23" and 36" between centres, with the model number hand written on the cover under model No.
I will do some searching under the other names mentioned and see what I come up with. I checked the crossfeed with a dial indicator and 5 thou on the dial gives 5 thou movement. The cross feed has both imp. and metric markings, with metric elsewhere.
Your replies are much appreciated -thanks

Here you go. This for the "typical" lantaine like what Andre (welder) has got, but I think it should be mostly the same. I'm a bit disappointed actually, I found it rather easily, I was hoping to waste a good part of the morning looking for it!

As for the lever on the front, if it slackens the belts, what does the lever on the rhs of the belt guards do?1915 17"x50" LeBlond heavy duty Lathe, 24" Queen city shaper, 1970's G Vernier FV.3.TO Universal Mill, 1958 Blohm HFS 6 surface grinder, 1942 Rivett 715 Lathe, 14"x40" Antrac Lathe, Startrite H225 Bandsaw, 1949 Hercus Camelback Drill press, 1947 Holbrook C10 Lathe.

Sorry, the lever on the RHS of the guard is for belt changing. The bottom lever onthe front is for threading vs normal carriage feed.
The top lever on the front is this: Changes carriage feed direction

G'Day ,
On my Honden the imperial scaling is dead accurate, its the metric graduations that are wrong, since I mainly work in metric these days it seemed like a good excuse to fit a DRO.

Martin

G'Day Welder,
As you can see from the photo my dials are direct reading (reduce diameter) the problem is that when you advance 10 divisions (10 x .02 = .2 mm) the dial is marked 1, the bloody thing should have been marked 0 - 50, not 0 - 25, but with the DRO fitted this is now academic.
