It worked out about $3k cheaper than the AL1000D with DRO, once I purchased a DRO kit for it (I didn't buy one locally, Hairy Forbes was over twice the price of buying the same piece of kit from an ebayer, I'm sure most people know who the seller is, if not PM me as it's been the most pleasant experience I've had buying through ebay).
It's had a very easy life by the looks/feel of things and how it sounds.
I don't know how much 2 hp would make, I didn't buy it for the HP rating, that's what it happened to be, I kind of wished it was only "5hp" but beggers can't be choosers. You're right though, when things go bad, things can go really bad with the higher HP machines. It all comes down to common sense and respect and i think it's no different than using a smaller machine?
I'll put up some photo's once i get the thing into action, I've got a pretty big list of things to make, it'll keep me busy for a while that's for certain. The wife gave me the thumbs up to buy these toys, but i think she'll be regretting that decision once i get around to using them.
How long have you had your Graziano for?

Cripes it must be six months Eskimo. Are you excited or over it? I think I'd be ready to trade up by now. Have you got a way to move it? I could bring my pallet jack over. Also have a craptacular crane but it's more of a hassle to move.

There's always the old standby: "Would you rather I spent my spare time boozing and womanising?"

This is the 1st time posting on here, so go easy on me if I stuff something up.
I purchased this Macson lathe a few years ago, converted it from 3 phase to single phase with a new 3hp motor.
It also had the 3 jaw chuck attached to the spindle with a plate as the original spindle mount wasn't with it.I faced of the spindle as the tapered spigot had already been removed(not by me, previous owner) machined a recess fitted a spigot, the turned a taper of 7°, then made a mount to replicate the original. It's a pity it wasn't a D16 mount.

Your no under dog their with that lathe. Thats a solid looking lathe.
I see cars in the back ground, what do you normally use it for? Or is it just a hobby lathe.

Welcome Underdog. Nice lathe. I don't understand how that nose works. What holds the chuck on?

There should be studs with shoulder nuts, the nuts go through the holes in the shiny plate and then through the back ring, the back ring plate should have elongated holes,as the shoulder nuts pass through the back ring the back ring is rotated slightly captivating the shoulder nuts, the nuts are then tightened retaining the chuck.
