Hello Cooper,
The transport may be somewhat of a problem if you need to engage the services of a courier service. For a start, I have no pallets, no cling wrap facilities and no way of lifting the pallet on to the truck. Ie. fork lift.
The best thing that can happen is that you have a friend or relative with a trailer that can come up here and we can load the individual components in by hand. Individually they are not heavy.
but a pallet shouldn't be to hard to find you could probably go to a dump or some other place i find pallets all the time out front house or ware houses surely there should be a place near you where they can lend you a pallet
I might be calling them this weekend to see if you do need to use cling wrap, you should just be able to tie everything down with rope and put some car board around the protected areas.
Edit: maybe some else that lives in Melbourne might have a pallet they can give you.

Be a good road trip. You could always con your mum and say it's a holiday weekend and stay over night somewhere.
Is there anyone else that could do the trip for you? I know my commodore would do that in about a tank of fuel each way which is around $160. Might be cheaper and less hassle doing that way.

My parents reckon that the only way that they are going to do it is by putting it on a pallet and getting it posted over to Adelaide :/

Just watched your video,not bad for a 1st attempt.
Think you might need to tighten the Belt as you said.
You also mentioned something about the Bull gear pin for engaging Backgear,do you have trouble with that.

no i dont have trouble with the bull gear i meant i cant take it out on camera as a cant put it back in with one hand. My belt is as tight as it will go as there is a pin in the tightening lever that cannot figure out how to move, so i am seriously considering changing the pulleys to vee belt pulleys. Also one more question do you think my tool is cutting correctly.

It was cutting okay,although towards the end of the video there was a bit of a squeal,not sure if it was from the tool or not,if it was from the tool that would indicate it rubbing.
How deep was that cut you were doing and how deep was the cut that you ran into and stalled on?
If you were going to be doing a longer job of say 3" or more it would be advisable to grind a chip breaker into your tool to get rid of the long swarf( Just a little groove the length of the cutting edge set back just from the edge of the tool,the chips will turn tightly on themselves and break off similar to the Indexable type with the chip breaker,makes clean up easier and a little bit safer.)

Towards he end that's the belt slipping. i was taking a 20 thou cutand the cut i ran into was 50 thou. It's odd normally the tool breaks the chips do you think vee belt drive will give me more power.

If the belt is slipping and its fully adjusted it seems like a new belt would be better.
The VEE drive wont slip as much as the Flat belt,your power is in the motor.
If the Vee belt is not adjusted correctly or enough it will still slip.
If the Flat belt is in good to reasonable condition there is no real reason for it to be slipping unless it had oil on it.
When you adjust the Flat belt how tight is the VEE belt from your motor to countershaft pulley.
When you adjust the Flat belt with the adjusting knob it also adjusts the Vee pulley,if by some chance the Vee pulley is the incorrect size (to small) it will tighten well before the Flat belt causing the Flat belt to be loose and making it slip when under load.
Some might dissagree but if you can you want both belts at the same tension or the Flat belt tighter than the Vee.

okay well i cannot tighten the flat belt more as the vee belt is too tight.

Take your Vee belt off and adjust the Flat belt until it is reasonably tight,put the Vee bely back onto the motor pulley and pull the Vee belt up towards the Countershaft drive pulley,see how short it is,this will be close to how much more length you need in your Vee belt.
I believe the standard size for a full Vee belt drive is A51 or the metric equivilant.
Even if you make a blue and get a Vee belt slightly longer there should be plenty of free movement on your motor mount.

I'm really not in a position to be packing it up on a pallet. As mentioned earlier, I'm happy to let you have it, and I'm happy to help load it onto a trailer or ute.

Hi Cooper,
I can totally understand the predicament your in, and have been in similar situations myself. I can also understand Eric just wanting to get rid of it with the minimum hassle.
Don't get too down, Eric hasn't given you a time limit to pick it up, so see what you can do over the next few weeks, you never know something just might fall into place for you.
What he has offered you is a really generous offer, and one many blokes out there would like them selves, you are one lucky young guy.

Thanks dave I guess iv tried to organise it like I have some time limit but I asked my dad and we might be able to drive to melbourne but I dont think we will be leaving anytime soon we will probably be leaving some where inbertween 1 month or 7 months I hope this isnt a problem for you Eric
