Lathe suppliers in Perth.
Hi everyone,
Ive decided to purchase a metal lathe for my shed/workshop. Its one of those tools that wouldn't be used often but when you need one, boy do you need it. I'm looking for a mid sized unit, 240v bench mounted.
There seems to be an abundance of lathes available on ebay and stores but all are interstate.
Does any one know of an outlet in Perth [new or s/hand] where I might be able to see, touch, decide and buy when next in the city.
Cheers for any advice
Lionel.

Lionel,
You could try Hare & Forbes in Belmont, Fioria Machinery Cannington, Ron Mac Osborne Park and the Quokka on Thursday.

Just to add to C-47's comments, H&F supply Foira's with their stock so they sell the same machines, although at slightly different prices. Neither sell S/H lathes, from what I've seen.
Ron Macks did have a couple of S/H lathes ( one was a Veem for $1500)a year ago, although they mainly cater to the larger industrial machine customer. The cheapest new lathe they sell is/was the AL-335 at around $3K.( same as the one H&F sell)
Occasionally, you might see a S/H lathe for sale in the Sunday Times as well.
Bills Machinery had one Sheraton( I think) left from a batch they bought from TAFE, but it came with almost no accessories so I didn't bother going to have a look. Condition is unknown.

Just to expand on Sterob's info H&F and Fioria on occasions have 2nd hand gear (trade in's), infact I was at H&F today and they had a Bridgeport mill & a lathe. Didn't take much interest in condition. Fioria had a couple of Hercus machines several months ago, condition a bit ratty, don't know what they have now. Ambassador Machine tools also deal in 2nd hand but I think the bigger, more expensive stuff, give a call though never know.
