I bought this new nearly a year ago so thought I could do a review of it now. I chose this machine because it is supposedly made in Italy but has similar pricing to the Taiwanese units. It's 2hp single phase with a 300mm blade and weighs about 100kg.

I built a stand for it and also a vice and a bench grinder.

Cut speed:
Very good, it chomps through steel quite impressively and very quietly. It's fascinating to see a blade doing 40RPM progressing so fast through steel.

Cut quality:
Very good. It cuts steel with a smooth accurate cut similar to a wood saw cutting hardwood.

Cut capacity:
Macc claims that it will do 90x90mm square stock which I'd say is correct as I tried some 100mm square section which it falls slightly short on.

Work clamping:
Very good. it has a vice to hold work with a 3 armed "speed wheel" to get close then a lever that applies a fair amount of clamping force.

Workpiece and saw positioning:
Good. There is a lever on the right side of the saw that loosens both the saw and the work table (they rotate on a common axis), so you can line the table up with a long length of steel if needed. The angle scale is easy to use accurately.

Build quality:
Here's where the review goes a bit negative. It says "made in Italy" but I suspect that some of the components are Chinese imports. They have certainly cheaped out here and there. Overall, it is solid with a heavy cast iron base. The saw tilts with no apparent sideways laxity. After perhaps an hour of use the coolant pump came loose from it's holder at the back of the saw. The pump holder was made out of soft aluminium and the threads had stripped out which was going to happen sooner or later as it takes a fair bit of force and vibration in use (the pump operates off a cam on the motor shaft). I rang Macc and they didn't seem surprised. They sent me a replacement part. I was annoyed at first as the replacement part was clearly an old second hand part, but then I realised they were doing me a favour, as the old part was cast iron and will no way strip threads. Now the pump holder keeps coming loose from the back cover of the saw (yes, also made out of soft aluminium). I've just Loktited them in but I suspect that will be a temporary fix as the threads have worn a bit. Here is the thread stripped pump holder in my hand and the replacement part:

I get the impression that they used to use quality parts but have recently gone to cheaper parts.
Another gripe is the coolant hoses are all loose fitting on the hose nipples, it's like they got the wrong size. Out of 5 hose ends only two have a hose clamp, and they are also a loose fit! Not surprisingly it leaks, and I'll have to get some decent hose clamps for it.

Overall score:
I'd give it 6/10 due to the cheap aluminium parts failing. It's a shame, because if they upgraded a few parts they would charge $100 more and I'd give it 8/10.
