I will try and find the scan of mine (for the chin hung)on the PC and upload it... Looking at the paper version I have, it is different and has different tighter allowable tolerances, and it more thorough...

I'm not quite sure where this thread is leading.

I got a test certificate with my CQ9325 Chinese lathe, and I wondered if it was a mass produced piece of paper nonsense to make buyers feel good, or whether it actually was a summary of the machines accuracy.

So I replicated some of the primary tests done, and the results were spot on.

I don't know whether you are suggesting test sheets are BS or what in this thread?

Certainly in my case they were not.

Hi Rob, this thread can go wherever people want it to go. I had no agenda when starting it, it was mentioned in the other thread and in fact had been several times by CBA so I thought it maybe an interesting read. WRT test certificate authenticity, I'm on the fence. I have no evidence to suggest one way or another, just been listening to others opinions. Is my certificate authentic? I wouldn't have a clue TBH and I'm not loosing sleep over it. Quite frankly, it's contents are of little relevance to the work I do on the lathe. In any case, the HS has been removed by me and replaced, which makes a few of the tests now obsolete anyway. Enjoy! Simon

I am the one that suggested it would be nice to have a place where everybody interested could post his inspection records. Why would this make any sense?

- some people out shopping for their first lathe or mill, may not even know that these machine tools are supposed to come with an inspection certificate. If a machine comes without, it ought to be cheaper than a same or simalar machine that comes with it. Many of the less expensive Chinese bench type lathes can be bought with or without an inspection record, depending on who imports the machine.

- some may have bought a used machine with the inspection record lost/missing. It can be helpful to see how a same/similar model machine has been tested, and what results to expect.

- some people may have doubts if the inspection record from a particular factory is in fact trustworthy. Seeing if all inspection records from that maker are not just photocopies of the same paper, but actually individually filled in and signed, may be reassuring. It may even make or break a buying decision.

So, how many versions do you have? It sounds like you can produce any version you want as required. I am confused!

Of the test certificates I've seen, I'd have to say yours looks to be one of the more genuine. I had to giggle at the Vertex one above, where the term "rubber stamping" the specs was taken to a whole new level.

This is the inspection record of a Chinese BV23 lathe that was sold in Spain. The BV23 looks near identical to the popular AL50 sold by Hare&Forbes.
