A new automatic welding helmet - finally...
With my aging eyesight, I could barely see where I was welding any more with the old one....

Socks, ( hand knitted) and a pleasant day with the family, including a skype session to the son and the rest of the family in Dortmund.

Also got a few free hours to do a bit more on the Waldown.

Hope everyone had a great day.

    Regards
    Ray

I had a great day...home again for the holidays, wife outdid herself on lunch. We had Mike Garwood and his family over as well as some of my wife's relatives and phone calls to the old country.

I got a belt and a nifty set of gauge block holders/accessories. And a bottle of cheer, and a few laughs courtesy of my youngest comedienne, and the rapt attention of the youngsters while explaining the intricacies of logical fallacies. In Latin.* Bliss.

Mike made me a wooden cover for my surface plate. The top came from an old school desk complete with carved graffiti from yesteryear. Mike added to that with little inscribed in-jokes and gags to keep me amused whenever I contemplate it. It is the neatest thing, complete with a carved heart with my wife's and my initials, just as though we were contemporaries. Sweet.

*I am blessed with youngsters still possessing enough grace to humour an old man while sharing their derision unheard offstage.

    Best of the season everyone...

I got to work. I am 2000 km closer to my family now than at the start of the day however! Now if I could just do something about the other 11,000 km I'd be a happy man

Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year to all.

So Phillip, I'm hoping any restorative work on the Schaublin will be fully documented for all to see.

I was wishing that Father Christmas might have spoiled me with an ISO30 arbored Wohlhaupter UPA2 but obviously he's had as much success as I have had in finding one.. Got a couple of tee shirts instead. Having my youngest daughter home for Christmas after 4 years in Melbourne was the best present of all.

I'm looking forward to another year's worth of forum camaraderie and humour.

    Hi,

Talked the missus out of buying me $200.00 plus sunnies and getting a quick change tool post from AWM for my Hercus 260 instead. And while she's not looking going to buy a Milling Operations in the Lathe.
    Merry Christmas!
