    Merry Xmas everyone.

Dad got his Milwaulkee cordless drill at 0630 this morning. All the kids got their toys (and my brother, sisters and in-laws all gave the little kids noisy toys again for Xmas).

    Ben.

    Default Lubricants with care

Merry Christmas to all our members and sponsors, and a special thanks to the moderators and Mr U-Beaut and his merry helpers.
For those who received tonsil lubricant from Santa, use it sparingly and let it soak in for quite a while before wielding any new toys in the workshop.
Stay safe, and enjoy the festive season.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

We had an old-fashioned morning, full of cheer and affection. I got a new drill and a couple pair of socks to keep my bits in. *

*not those bits. It doesn't get cold enough up here for that.

Merry Xmas all members of the Forum. I hope you all have a pleasant day, and a safe holiday.

I have been working up until now on rebuilding gates for the cattle yards, and rearranging my shed. Over the last few days I have got a good start on arrangments to finally move my lathe into position. I now only need to finish concreting the bits at the ends and I can move the lathe onto its slab.

I have now stopped to enjoy the rest of the day.

Amazingly I spent today looking at one of the few sites in Australia where we have mined Tungsten. 100 years ago Australia produced more than 50 percent of the worlds tungsten but by the end of WW2 this had dropped to less than 5 percent (the war lead to a huge expansion in exploration and mining of tungsten for use in munitions etc). By the 90's we accounted for less than 1% after China started mining large quantities and our operations pretty much closed down ( that's a recurring story isn't it). But now China has started restricting exports and the price is on the rise and Australia's deposits are potentially going to open up again. The Scheelite mine at Grassy in Kings Island may potentially reopen next year?
