    Default Mitutoyo Quick Guide

I had been looking for images of a real Mitutoyo 1um DTI after reading RC's post in the Ebay thread and found this - http://www.mitutoyo.co.jp/eng/pdf/E4329_QuickGuide.pdf

    May be of interest.

    Hi BT,

The first is from an ebay advert, the second is from Amazon, the third is from a mitutoyo pdf http://www.mitutoyo.co.jp/eng/useful...og/pdf/371.pdf

    $(KGrHqQOKosFG-BUOBtpBRyZGKDyN!~~60_57.JPG71GkmooF-xL._AA1500_.jpg513-401e.jpg

The difference I can see between these two and the geniune one is the pointer shape is different, the counter balance side is longer on the known genuine one and the thickness doesn't taper towards the center bearing... and the pointer center is black....

but, then again... I'm still not 100% sure these are fakes anyway, so it's still unresolved...

Oh, and the genuine one has a carbide tip, so a close look at the tip of the suspect ones might be in order, unless the fakes also have carbide tips of course...

    Regards
    Ray

PS Edited to remove low resolution version and put all three side by side..

PPS Of course if they are fakes, then Amazon is selling the fake ones too! I didn't expect that to be the case?

Maybe an email to mitutoyo with the links may resolve it? If they are fakes mitutoyo will want to know about it.
If no one has done it by this evening I will.

    Cheers,

The Ebay and Amazon are both marked PDF846 while the Mitutoyo is marked KJZ924. The stylus differs on the latter also.

    Hi BT,

I missed the different stylus, well spotted. The PDF846 or KJZ924 and the QR code I think are serial numbers, might be batch number or production dates...

The finish on the stylus tip looks highly polished on the genuine one, and a bit less polished on the others..

I quite like our fake Mitutoyo 0.01mm DTI's, even the fakes are still pretty good.

The fakes are getting better all the time..

Here's the old ( 2-3 years ago ) Mitutoyo warning about fake 513-404 DTI's We've got one of the fakes, and as Josh said it works just fine..

    http://www.mitutoyo.com.sg/documents...flet%206pp.pdf

Maybe It's time Mitutoyo updated their warnings to catch the latest fakes..

    Regards

What does ebay, PayPal or credit card company do if you buy something off ebay and arrives and is not a genuine article?

I believe PayPal / eBay require you to prove it's fake. They ask for an expert appraisal which is a very nebulous thing for many items... and a pain in the #### for almost all.
