Default Thought all of us could do with some money saving ideas....

I have just watched a few of his short videos and find them quite handy.
This one perked my interest as WD40 is quite expensive in cans, So I thought I could buy in bulk
    and use this little trick

The worst that can happen is you will fail.

I have been using a re-fillable spray can for years, much easier to fill than that set up, cost about $30 has paid for it self many times over,
my grandfather taught me to clean files 50 years ogo in a similar way except using a mild steel block on edge

Anyone use one of those manual pump up spray cans. We have one with olive oil in it in the kitchen. Seems to work really well.

One thing I have never had success with in hand pump sprays is Turps, it seems to wreck the pump in just a couple of - anyone have a solution to that?

Never seen that aerosol can idea before, must give it a try.

I've been buying WD40 in 5 liter containers for years, and I use the CRC spray bottles, There is a special WD40 branded bottle that you are supposed to get with the bulk containers, but they never seem to have them by the time I get there.. Lately I've been using Lanox diluted with kerosene rather that WD40 anyway.

Not a cheap solution, but I know these last for years with petrol in them. Wolfchester also do one (branded Forch). Both of those I have seen stand up to being used solely for petrol over a number of years, I should think turps would be no problem. Brake cleaner is probably a more aggressive solvent than either petrol or turps, and that's what those bottles are intended to handle...

Might be able to get one a bit cheaper if you befriend a local automotive workshop, think I paid about $35 for mine when I was in the trade...

Oh, and for what it's worth, you can buy seal kits for them if they do get a bit funny.

Bought 2 of the same things from Bunnings a while back, from memory they were around $12 each, haven't had a problem with them.

I just use the trigger squirt bottles, as you can direct the spray better having an adjustable nozzle.

The one downside I find is that the screw top sometimes seals so well, if you leave the bottle in the sun, the air expansion forces the contents out the nozzle.

Have come into the shed a few times and found a pool of cutting fluid on the bench.

Easy fix is to poke a small hole in the bottle near the screw thread, on the side away from the squirt direction.
