    Default National Engineering

National Engineering is the place i got my shaper, and i think its worth noting the work they have done in young and all over australia. Their "Shed" for want of a better word is huge, like 2000 sqm or something and they looked to have gantry cranes to cover 95% of that. There is an old fashion counterbalance weigh bridge at the gates, and more cranes outside for loading and unloading. All this started out as a Blacksmith and Coachbuilder in the 1890's.

    National Engineering - History

I took this pic of a small chucking reamer that was on the bench in the toolroom. Anyone want to take a guess at the size? (sorry bout the poor pic quality)

That looks more like a core drill to me, rather than a reamer. But I am quite often wrong

I would go 2 1/4. Bollie is pretty up on this gear so he might be right.

Aaw gee, thanks Dave. (check is in the mail. lol)

Just to elaborate. The core drill I'm refering to is the type used to drill out holes in castings where a core has been during the casting process.

Ah, so. Is it tapered or is that an optional delusion?

Thanks I learn't something else new today. The castings must be hard on the cutter, with the hard crust the castings have after being poured.

They wouldn't have you working at a TAFE if you didn't know anything.

I've never used on but I reckon you'd be right there. I have one that I inherited from my Dad. I don't know where he got it from though.
