OT Valve grinding paste
I'm about to grind the valves of an old side valve engine (1935 Hudson 8). I opened my 40 or 50 year old tin of valve grinding paste to find it was rock solid, (not too many surprises there I guess) so off to the local auto shop to buy some more. I came away with 75gm orange tubes of PEP water based grinding compound which is all that was on offer, note the word compound rather than paste.
This stuff is very thin and runny, (even after considerable kneading of the tube the consistency didn't improve) its no good for grinding engine valves, you have to have a fairly stiff paste for that. The PEP can go back whence it came.
The question is, can anyone recommend a useful preferably oil based valve grinding paste? I've done a little web research and this one may be OK.
