Default Well I painted my bandsaw

Well I painted my bandsaw, gloss black to really show the dust It came up well and I'm happy with it. I would have preferred a different colour but that's what I had. My wife called it a Darlec, it dose have a bit of a presence being black now. Its a 14" Woodfast, I put a 2Hp 1400rpm motor on it. I made up the blade guard and top blade guide as I think I lost the original guide (not sure as it came partly dis-assembled). I also made the blade plug as the one it had was all mangled up. I made a few spares so if any one has a woodfast and would like a replacement table insert let me know I will post one out to you. 0.125" thick X 1.560" Dia. the rear rollerer are a bit noisy but otherwise runs well.

    The end is in sight...

Headstock is now primered... Top coat goes on tomorrow... Only major parts left to do are... Saddle and apron and tailstock... But they have to be fitted yet, and they may take awhile as the saddle has to be built up with turctice.. Have to find some interface membrane..

These days with the automotive bog, i mix some up, thin it with some acetone... Dip my hands in acetone (acetone is very toxic according to wikipedia and even the human body produces it) and spread the bog by hand..

There are simple too many curves to use a scraper and I am a complete novice...

I am not getting a perfect finish, but it is good enough, and better then the usual ebay paint job...

And my catchphrase for today is...

    Vote early and vote often

I've got the same band saw I need to rebuild. Got to get a blade, maybe some tyres, and currently the motor off the saw is running my Hercus lathe. I think I'll probably put the motor back on the band saw and get a new motor for the lathe, is yours one of the ones off ebay?

I'm not sure of my table inserts condition, I'll try to check and see if there is much to making one but maybe I'll hit you up for an insert. The black looks good
