Now, let's see if I can get through this post without using the word pink.....(oops too late)
What's the application plan RC? Spray or brush, and will you clear coat it or not?
I think it will look just fine. But then any 10EE is good in my book.
Cheers,

Does all bog you buy go off in 5 minutes or is it just this Septone stuff I have?
Be nice to get a bit more time to apply before it starts to harden...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

Got a bit of grey on it late this evening...
Have discovered when the paint salesman recommends you buy one litre, you should buy four...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

Re: Painting machines
I've been reading this thread with great interest because I've just inherited a small thicknesser that was in need of repainting. I'm in the process of stripping it back now.
I made the mistake of asking my daughter what colour I should paint it. "Any colour I choose?" she asked.
"Sure" I replied.
The colour she chose?
"That's impossible. Nobody can give more than 100%. By definition that is the most anyone can give"

I need to paint my little Atlas shaper. Is Caustic soda good to remove oil and grease prior to priming ?

It's effectiveness seems to depend on how strong and how hot it gets..
strong and hot and it seems to be able to dissolve anything..... Weak and cold and it is as effective as a dead fish...
Repco sell a highly concentrated caustic degreasing solution that is pink in colour... I have used it with success but you do have to be careful using it as it will burn and get any in your eye and it will damage your vision...
I would get as much oil and grease off as possible... I have noticed Bunnings sell mineral turps very cheaply compared to what you would pay for kerosine... You could use that to remove most of the oil/grease then go over with something else...
The heavy duty oven cleaners in a spray can is another source of caustic solution, spray on, leave a short while and wipe off...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

I probably dislike painting less now that I am more learned.
I have been speaking to the paint shop and with regards to the high build primer and spray putty...
The salesman said they sell very little spray putty these days as the high build primer will build to 80% of the spray putty plus is a primer on top.... spray putty needs primer underneath and primer on top...
I have sprayed on three coats of the high build primer, sanding down between each coat...
I have not got what I call an acceptable for me surface... It is no where near perfect, but neither does it look like an ebay special paint job that is so common... The primer now has that smooth plastic look over the depressions of which there are a few, but not massive amounts...
My biggest fail I think has been the bog I chose to use.... If it was better in that much slower to go off and less stiff, I now would have used more and ended up with an even better job...
Sanding down between coats was much easier then I anticipated.... Using a spray bottle with water and wet and dry paper on an orbital sander.. The wet and dry did not clog up that way...
Tomorrow should hopefully see a bit of light red sprayed around...Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

Soapy water works even better.
