    Default PEZ20 Steel?

Was at the steel merchants today checking out their steel scrap bin and came across what looked like a 500mm length of 25mm stainless round bar.
Now that I have it home I can see what looks like a very faint PEZ20 painted on one end.
Anyone know what that might mean?

    It is magnetic

I've check out the web but can't see any reference to this code?

Only thing I can think of is P20. But that's a long way off of being a Stainless. It might look similar if it was bright. Its a polishing grade of mold steel. I've seen others (Bohler) call it M200. It takes to nitriding really well. I've made some of my test arbors out of it.

Its not that exotic, that a lenght could have turned up at a general steel merchant. Tool Makers love it.

    Regards Phil.

    Thanks Guys,

The merchant is a very standard steel merchant although they now have separate scrap bins for ally and SS plate, although I have never seen them stock SS bar.
They have a couple of scrap areas in the factory and this bar was in an area that is not always trawled over by the usual scrap hunters.
