I'm going to try not to lock it at all in the first instance. Worst case it will oscillate. If so, I can but a lock bolt into the side of the body.
Was it Bavarian vintage?

Drill Sharpener Extension
I’ve got a drill sharpening attachment for a grinder but it was not long enough to sharpen MT2 drills. To sharpen these longer bits, I made an extension thingo. It’s made from a bit of key stock, a bar that’s been drilled out to slide over the attachment, a bit of angle and a thumbscrew. The angle keeps the drill aligned while the adjustable endpiece is only used to adjust the drill’s stickout. It’s rough and ready but will do for now.
When I get some time, I intend to make a larger attachment that will sharpen drills from about 6mm to 25mm.The first step towards knowledge is to know that we are ignorant.

A nice method to solve the problem with in between sizes drills. I presume the problem with the big drills (up to 25mm +) is that the front Vee is not big enough for proper support. I made up a rough version myself where I replaced the front Vee with angle and a bracket to attach to the pivoting section. This was before I had a mill. Another job to do at some time.
Do you use this sharpener at the top of the grinding wheel/disk as per instructions. The instructions that came with mine are about as close to the reverse of the true situation as you can get. Took me a long time to work it out. I resorted to laying out grinding angles in CAD to help me think what to do.

Bandsaw Brake.
My latest MW project is a bandsaw brake.
This is where I'm up to so far. - still have to transfer the lever movement outside the cabinet.

Good question.
I haven't got it set up at the moment. I had it set up near the top centre of the side of my POS Supercrap grinder, but then I read about setting it on centre towards the front being the better position so I removed it. Before I got around to making the changes a lot of things changed. One of them was buying an A&A grinder which is sheer bliss in comparison. The other grinder had terrible vibration. I think it is the wheels. I intend to have a grinding table, maybe rotary, using the POS for wire wheel etc. I am also thinking about making a disk sander from a GMC wood lathe and sharpening drills with this. The A&A is the only grinder I have access to at the moment and that is just floating around the shop. The other one is blocked off by the desk my proper wood lathe sits on to make room for the CY lathe which is sitting in the middle of the shed until I get time to do the slab.
One of the problems with the standard drill sharpener of this type is that the Vee at the front will not support the flutes of large drills accurately. With MT drills the flutes are about the only thing that you can support as the tang is useless and the taper will vary. A sliding support for the taper is one possibility.
I have a Chinese taper drill set. The 25mm has a chip on the cutting edge. I have not been able to fix it. Luckily I also have a 1" drill of somewhat better breeding.
When I did have this drill sharpener set up I was able to sharpen drills almost as good as new, except that the lines from the grinding, ran along the edge instaed of across it. I will fix that tho.

My latest project is pretty much complete...
Whether something like this is ever truly finished is an unknown...

Good to see it finished, the colour is growing on me a little...
I can see that giving many more years of service.
