    Default Prting/Cutting on the Shaper-2

Hi all, this was just to be a follow up from this thread https://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/pa...4/#post1526282 but we still can't post in old threads, so here is the post in a new thread.

Just a bit of a follow up on this.....

I cut a couple of vise jaws today from a length of 180x12. Still not having bought that bandsaw (i would have...but then Mlle came along) i set up the shaper to part them off. Once again i had problems, i used some oil, which helped and then like magic i upped the DOC and all of a sudden it cut really well. Moral is if you want to use a parting tool on the shaper, keep the DOC up!

    Hi Ben,
Here is the video i did when i first tried it. The parting blade is 1 3/8" x 1/4".

I'm not sure how a douglas would go, even with a 3/32" wide blade. Could be worth a try though.....
