To me the tool looks to have way to large a radius than ive ever seen used.
Can you give a tool with a 1.5 mm radius a try and see how it goes?
Also you clearence angle should be no more than 5 degrees.
Thank god for milling machines.

I agree with the cutter bouncing as i have seen it before. Since you are using the tool bit without a tool holder it is lighter and can bounce. Try another cut and hold down on the top of the tool post with your hand and see if it goes away. Don't put your fingers in harms way just apply a little pressure (weight). My bet it does...Bob

I use pointed tools as that was what we were taught in trade school 35+ years ago. Now i use brazed carbide for 90% of my cutting...Bob

Hi Jordan,
Thats more what I understand a sheer tool to be. See how the grinding goes from one corner to the other thats a rake of 45 degrees. They are a finishing tool.
