That may be the same type material, but it is not what I was trying to describe. The modules I recently saw on boardwalks in several Nature Reserves are a rectangular grid pattern with holes approx 100mm x 25mm IIRC, and 25-30mm thick. Each module is 1m or 1.2m square from what I remember, and the surface has a non-slip finish incorporated. Perhaps someone in NP&WS could help identify the material.
Here is a link to a photo of a boardwalk at Muttonbird Island, Coffs Harbour where this material is used.

Oh I see, that is FRP grating.

Pultruded grating is probably the one with the most span. I'll look into it.“We often contradict an opinion for no other reason

Mm ... rung a couple of places that sell FRP grates and boy oh boy are they expensive! they come in 1200x2400 so I need two sheets. The cheaper is the one that is little squares like a milk crate. $400 a sheet, the stronger one with the cross bards called "pultruded" is 560 a sheet. Hardwood would be a fraction of that price, so the only gain is weight. I have to ponder if 100 kilos gain is worth the difference of $600 to $800..........Well not a lot really.........with hardwood I can do without any diagonals since I'll have over 20 hardwood pieces bolted down by 80 bolts keeping it square. With the plastic grate I have to have steel diagonals. Not a big deal ..... Mm ..... still thinking about it.
