Rebuilt rusted out gas manifold on my grill with 304L stainless steel
A while back I noticed that my grill was starting to smell a little like natural gas when I wasn't using it. Eventually my wife noticed, spurring me into action to either get a new one or to do something about it. I poked around and saw that the gas manifold was in bad shape and clearly needed to be replaced. I couldn't find the exact model as my grill was a few years old and it looked like the manufacturer no longer made that part (of course they stopped making so guys like me would have to buy a new grill).
I decided that for a few bucks worth of stainless steel, I could fix the problem once and for all.
I also learned in this project that it can be a real pain in the backside to drill 304L without the proper drill bit and preferably some coolant/lubricant. That's a story for a different day...
