That seals it for Ewan, leave your vices in Canberra. Greg's 5 minutes away, far more enviro freindly. Still not sure if we will need them, but if they are sitting in a car boot out the front, that will be sweat. I have enough gee clamps for the odd set up.
We actually drilled and bolted the 10 fixtures that R.C knocked up back in 2011 to my benches.
Bob Ward has actually donated some Cherry Red case hardening compound to the cause. Your welcome to try that here as long as its during a meal break. I have any amount of other scrapers to try in the mean time.
Regards Phil.

The Excelsior is directly across the road from the Best Western, it couldn't be a 2 minute walk. Its only seperated by 4 lanes of traffic and a Dan
Murphy booze shop.
We are all going to be great mates by Sunday night. If it helps I can spit around a list of names and mobile numbers, I have most of them. I just need to know if thats O.K? 3 or 4 Ok's with out desent would do it.
I'll be putting out a mass mailing to every one tonight or tommorrow night just to tidy up.
Regards Phil.

I'm a bit disappointed by your email Phil. You mean to tell me we will have poll dancing but no granite table dancing????

Gent's.
I had an email from one of the punters this afternoon, asking if its O.K to bring a straight edge, and square along. Those type of things are welcome, we will make time to at least check them. Who knows, if you are feeling confident by Sunday, you could move on to working on your own project. (Please no Bridgeport tables, theres only so many hours in a day). Levels have always been popular.
If you are doing that, shot me a photo of it, and I'll conjur up some sort of workholding for it, before the weekend. I'm taking tomorrow and Friday off, just to fine tune the joint.
Doesn't help the blokes flying in, but a certain amount of horse trading is O.K. If you have anything to buy, sell, swap or show off, feel free to bring them. I'm sure I've still got a spare bench to put them on. We have about an hour a day for meal breaks, I'm sure you Aussie blokes can close a deal while you are woofing down a pie. Some one remind me on Sunday, we have things to give away.
On the mention of the humble pie. Do any of you have any special dietary requirements? Especially allergies? Let me know if you do. I can cater to just about every thing, but I draw a line in the sand at Vegan. I am a dairy farmers son after all.
We covered this 3 weeks back, but thats several pages ago. But in the issue of clarity.
You blokes are responsible for your own safety, and are all here as my personal guest.
What we are doing is not particually dangerous, but there are power grinders and power scraping machines involved.
Safety glassses are highly recommended. I'll have some here on loan. If you have them, bring them. Prescription glasses would surfice.
Little piggy goes to market. The cast iron blocks you boys have bought, they are about 6kg's and have 90 deg corners. Drop one of those on your toes, it will jolly well hurt, or break a toe. Thats the most dangerous aspect as I see it.
If you own safety boots, plan on bringing and wearing them. If you dont, I'd hate to see you breaking in a pair of boots, on a weekend where we will spend 11-12 hours on the concrete. Substancial leather footwear would suffice. I:e no runner's / sneaker's / Dunlop Volleys.
Apart from that, its a walk up start.
Regards Phil.

Just want to say well done Phil, it's an amazing event to get to fruition. Hope there's heaps of grey dust.

I was going to bring my Chinsy granite square just in case anyone is interested in them, you can have a look see. I certainly won't be bringing the 4' camel back to scrape.....
I sharpened up 2 tips today, i can't seem to locate my 3rd.

The bike is fuelled, the backpack is packed with as little as I can get away with for three days, everythings booked...nothing doing but to wake up and get moving tomorrow morning! Ill be heading to Phil's workshop when I arrive to say gday and Ill also be heading to the excelsior to do dinner, so if anyone sees a knackered bloke walking around with a helmet, thatll be me.
Safe travels everyone, Im looking forward to putting faces to all the names floating around my inbox for the last few months.
