Scraping master needed
G'day gang,
I would like to have my own dovetail master, unfortunately I don't have the means of machining one myself, my shaper is to small and I don't have a Mill. I need at least 550 mm as I will be scraping in the cross slide on my Elliott lathe. Great lathe, 50 mm spindle bore, top Rpm 4000, steel chucks.
Joe has graciously offered up a ground master, thanks to Ray G, that I can borrow, but as I think most know, getting time away from the annoying house up keep is really annoying, and locking in time is hard.
So if the group travels comes across something please let me know.
Cheers Bruce

That ground master is still available for loan.
Tell me when you are ready to use it and I'll bring it with me to Melbourne next time I come down. I travel there around once a fortnight at least.
PM or call me.Cheers,
Joe

Do you need/want:
A casting.
A machined casting.
A machined & ground casting.
A completely scraped and guaranteed accurate dovetail straight edge.
Because availability & price change at each step along that road.....
I'm not interested in meeting the 4th category, FWIW, but there are possibilities with 1 to 3. Depends on what you think is a reasonable price, though. I'm not getting into that here, however.
I don't at present have any 630mm castings with the thick bottom flange for a dovetail edge to hand, variant22 got the last of them. I can get some cast though. Just keep in mind the good, cheap, fast equation....
