Self-aligning and Spherical Bearings
In a recent thread, Chain and Sprocket Selections, I introduced chain selection.
Now I need to select wheel bearings for the loco.
Note that speed is around 400 RPM.
Found the 2202 2RS self-aligning bearing, 15 x 35 x 14 mm x 3 degrees.
On 127 mm gauge (5") this would limit wheel deflections to +/- 3.3 mm, which sounds a bit low.
What happens to the bearing if the loco attempts to twist further than 3 degrees on the bearing ?
Are there any other bearings of similar size that would accept greater angular movement ?
John
