    Joe
Not sure if I'm looking at the video correctly, but it appears on my screen that the speed of the forward ram movement is quicker than the reverse movement, if so I think the motor rotation could be backwards, should be slow forward / quick back. Or maybe its like those videos where the car wheels appear to be turning backwards when going forward. Alan.

Alan, did you read the title of the video?
Your powers of observation of the video is good though. Yes, it is running backwards...

Very impressive Joe. Sadly, without therapy, your life is all downhill from here.

    Joe,
Ah! sorry there, need to read the fine print first, that's what long flights can do to one, now recovering. Enjoy the hypnotic motion. Alan.

Phil, don't you mean that without therapy Joe's life will seem to just go back and forth in one spot?

    Hi Joe,

That's looking very good, runs nice and quiet. I can see many happy hours of shaper watching ahead..

    Hi Ken,

Congratulations on the new arrival, good to see it's out of that shed, and getting the rust off, Wayne said that the apprentice had done a full rebuild on it before it went into storage, so I'd hope that it's in pretty fair condition under the surface rust (sorry Flight rust)...

    Regards

    "Flight rust" sir.

I think it was parked out on the taxi way for a while.

Actually it appears to only be on the surface and there is still areas of bright metal. We are supposed to be in a dry area; but turn your back on a bit of bare unprotected metal and it is covered in rust.

It is still in the trailer while I am cleaning and rearranging the workshop to make room.
The power lead has been disconnected from the contactor switches. I hope that is not a bad sign. Hopefully the old Australian General Electric motor is still alive and well.

A Douglas complete with see in the dark fluro chook cages was delivered tonight. It seems to be in good nick but I will strip it down, clean and lubricate it all. Will have to hook up VFD or change the motor to single phase. Year is 1977. Looking for a manual if anyone can help out.
    Cheers,
    Rod

    Default Manual

I have never laid eyes on a how to use it manual Rod. There is a spare parts manual that has been scanned and is downloadable. You are welcome to drop in and we can ignore the Douglas and talk about all the other xxxx I have in my shed!

    Glad you've got it.

    Hi Rod,
that looks pretty well identical to mine - except for the colour - mine is "Christmas Beetle #### green" - same year... I wonder if there were colour choices?
Would you please take a photo of the feed scew handle? It looks shop made and simple to replicate. If you want a photo of the down feed handle (which seems tobe broken off on yours) let me know.
    Cheers,
    Joe

    Default More on offer.

    Joe,

Rod's handle looks like a modification of the original. If you are again interested, I have a bronze / brass cast copy of the later handle ( a la Dave's ) that can accompany the badge. I am happy enough with just my bent and welded handle.

Even if after receipt of the badge photos, and subsequent bitter disappointment, you would like the facsimile handle, let me know and it will be in the post.

    Hey Joe,

I was looking at the pastel green and wondering if it was a post purchase Dulux recoat. In the close ups, I could not see any give away brush marks or tell tale hairs. Reckon it's original paintwork?
