    Default Steel Sheet or Plate

    Hi,

Is there anyone here who could recommend a good steel merchant preferably in the northern or metro area(s) of Melbourne, where I could get a piece of sheet or (cold rolled) plate up to 15mm? I am thinking of the bench not being much bigger than 1 metre square.

Is there a place that would sell off cuts around those sizes that you know of?

I am looking at making a welding bench - what would you say would be a minimum thickness to ensure it remained flat enough after tacking/welding items on it?

Thanking those in advance of their reply.

    Cheers
    MH

Not sure where to buy it down that way, but 10mm plate is used by a lot of people on welding tables.

Get the thickest you can afford, our welding tables at work are 32mm plate.
