I could probably help you with the spring steel I've got 1095 in 20 thou ( 0.5mm) and some others here on the forum have 25 thou and 32 thou plate. Depending on how much you want, you can sacrifice handsaw blades, they will cover up to 40 thou ( 1mm).. You'll struggle to find a Melbourne supplier, but if you are going to ring around, try asking for spring steel blue shim stock.

The couple of times I've recently used crinoline flat spring steel for service loops, Dawborn Steel in Huntingdale, Melbourne offered the best service, they will slit the width required, probably a minimum order charge.
